About Plymouth Hour

Plymouth Hour is an online directory and networking event used to promote businesses and services in Plymouth and surrounding areas. We list businesses for free and also have a premium listing in which a small fee is charged to be seen on our featured listing. Our networking event takes part on Twitter on Tuesday evenings between 8pm-9pm. This gives individuals, companies and charities a chance to promote their services using the hashtag #PlymouthHour. We can have anything from 100-300 people taking part in #PlymouthHour at one time. Our Twitter page gets 2,000 visits a month with 50,000 post impressions!

Plymouth Hour started in 2013 when a local entrepreneur thought to set up a non-profit organisation to raise money for St Luke’s Hospice. The initial group was planned to have no more than 30 members. Our Twitter page now as over 8,000 followers and our online directory lists just over 200 businesses and start-up companies.

The founder Dan Russell said at the time of starting Plymouth Hour “Small independents can feel isolated and want contact with other start-ups. A lot of the business network groups already established may be too formal and stiff, so we are forming our own informal, fun group for the small, local businesses of Plymouth. We want to help businesses grow, so it will be tailored to start-ups as well as those already in business, and people yet to start a business”.

Now, Plymouth Hour is a popular directory site and we have a number of businesses and individuals taking part in our Networking Event every Tuesday evening. It’s a fun, chatty place where everybody can promote the services they provide.
